Late on 14 December the Queensland Government announced that the laws requiring new homes in Queensland to include water tanks and energy efficient hot water systems would be repealed in early 2013 and was taken following a review to "ensure the requirements do not unduly affect housing affordability or add to cost of living pressures".

What is the alternative to energy efficient hot water systems proposed by the government?

Electric off peak systems!

The Queensland government continues to wind the back the clock with another short sighted decision that flies in the face of the stated aim to ease cost of living pressures.

While it is well documented that hot water represents around 30% of a typical Queensland household's annual energy consumption, in Queensland a solar hot water system should be the obvious choice for home-owners as it will supply hot water all year round at NO COST.
